Windowed Functions: My Favorite SQL Hobby

Speaker: Joshua Warne, Business Analyst Fishback Financial Corporation

Summary: As a business analyst, having efficient and easy ways to view, pattern, sort, group, aggregate, validate, and flag exceptions in data is a must. For me, windowed functions are one way I can solve problems and learn about data without writing a lot of code. There are countless ways to use this wonderful feature in SQL, but I will show you just a few applications I have used them for. In addition, I have a question for the group to see if you have a way I can use a windowed function or some other SQL feature to simply solve an aggregation problem.

About Joshua: Joshua Warne is a Business Intelligence Analyst with the Fishback Financial Corporation in Brookings, SD. He has a Master’s in Economics and provides reporting and analytics for projects that involve process enhancements, product development, and customer research.
